93MV and 93MF High voltage battery safety recall
We are preparing for a recall for safety reasons on a number of vehicles equipped with a specific type of high-voltage battery.
For ID.3, ID.4 and ID.7 vehicles with high-voltage batteries that were produced by a specific supplier between 2022 and 2025, there is a requirement to carry out checks to ensure that the components in the battery meet our high-quality standards.
When the battery is charged to over 80%, overheating may occur, posing a fire risk.
For safety reasons, the factory is temporarily limiting affected vehicles’ maximum available charging capacity to 80%. In most cases this has been done remotely.
Please note, it is good practice in all cases to activate Battery Care Mode, in which charging is restricted to 80%. You can do this yourself via the App or the vehicle’s infotainment centre. Instructions on how to do this can be found in the short video.
If your vehicle is affected by this recall, you will receive a letter from us in due course to advise you of next steps; these may include a visit to a Volkswagen Retailer to allow us to inspect your vehicle.
