The battery is the heart of your electric vehicle

An Electric vehicle’s battery, like most things in life, is subject to aging and wear. However, correct usage among other factors can make a contribution towards maintaining its health. For added peace of mind, all Volkswagen EV and Hybrid batteries come with a warranty1.

The three golden rules to looking after your battery

Rule 1: Charge to 80%

If you’re making mainly short trips, only ever charge your vehicle’s battery to 80%.

Rule 2: Minimise fast charging

There will be times when fast charging is necessary, but the best way to charge is overnight from a home wallbox.

Rule 3: Think smart

Plan your journeys using our EV route planner to make sure you have enough charge to get you there, also where possible, pre-heat or cool your car while it is still plugged in.
